FAQ

Veterinary and animal care construction in Florida

Why does the clinic smell?
Air handling. Odour rooms must be negative relative to client areas.
Does cleaning fix odour?
No.
Why is kennel noise hard to fix?
It travels through structure, not just air.
What is the cheapest noise intervention?
Locating kennels well at layout stage.
What makes a room isolation?
Negative pressure and dedicated exhaust outside.
Can isolation air be recirculated?
No.
Should surgery be positively pressured?
Relative to the corridor, and verified with instruments.
Who designs shielding?
A medical physicist.
What is missed in shielding?
Penetrations. A conduit through a lined wall is a hole.
Should exam partitions reach the deck?
Yes.
Can we use commercial flooring?
It fails under daily disinfection.
Why cove the flooring?
A square junction cannot be cleaned properly.
Can any space be a vet practice?
No. Exhaust routes, neighbors, structure and permitted use constrain it.
What should we rough in for?
Electrical capacity and an exhaust route.
Will you look before we sign?
Yes.
