Veterinary and animal care construction in Florida
- Why does the clinic smell?
- Air handling. Odour rooms must be negative relative to client areas.
- Does cleaning fix odour?
- No.
- Why is kennel noise hard to fix?
- It travels through structure, not just air.
- What is the cheapest noise intervention?
- Locating kennels well at layout stage.
- What makes a room isolation?
- Negative pressure and dedicated exhaust outside.
- Can isolation air be recirculated?
- No.
- Should surgery be positively pressured?
- Relative to the corridor, and verified with instruments.
- Who designs shielding?
- A medical physicist.
- What is missed in shielding?
- Penetrations. A conduit through a lined wall is a hole.
- Should exam partitions reach the deck?
- Yes.
- Can we use commercial flooring?
- It fails under daily disinfection.
- Why cove the flooring?
- A square junction cannot be cleaned properly.
- Can any space be a vet practice?
- No. Exhaust routes, neighbors, structure and permitted use constrain it.
- What should we rough in for?
- Electrical capacity and an exhaust route.

- Yes.
